Thoughtful Friday; Boo to a goose

Blog 16 | When I first started nursing, I was so quiet I wouldn’t have said boo to a goose.
It took me a long time to find my voice.
The question is; did that matter?
Did it make any difference to the people I cared for?
Was my quietness a barrier?
And if it was a barrier…
what might have helped me find my voice sooner?

Finding your voice takes time! I reckon most HCPs likely look back at their newly-qualified days and either chuckle or shiver at what we did. It's all part of the process of professional maturity, that can be hindered or encouraged by the other professionals one works with. Everyone finds their voice eventually, I reckon, especially when it comes to advocating for those in our care.
